This is one of the oldest river crossings in Europe.
I loved the feel of it – how many people must have been grateful for these well worn stones to shorten their journey over the centuries.
It has been painted many, many times from all angles and is well worth a visit!
This watercolour was painted on Saunders Waterford 140lb NOT with Winsor & Newton artists paints.

  • Thanks Pam – it is one of those places with a lot of history to it – a spirit if you like of what and who have been before.

Fabulous work Glenn! What amazing light!!!

  • I first came across this place in a magazine and had to wait a while before I got to see it for myself. I was not disappointed.

Glenn my friend this is really a wonderful painting; your sense of light, the wonderful composition, and the depth you get with that sharp foreground leading back to that misty light in the background. Fabulous!

  • Thanks Randy. I appreciate your comments. I felt really inspired by this place – I had waited a long time to visit – and I think it shows in the painting.

This is a wonderful painting which makes me feel so calm. I love the light captured on the water and the beautiful sunlit background :)

  • It sounds a bit corny I know but the place had a sense of calmness- you can imagine the relief of all those former travellers who would be so pleased to see the stones still there! Thanks.
