My next door street given the “Grimshaw” treatment painted on Saunders Waterford 140lb paper with W & N Artist Watercolours
moonlight, nocturne, sewerby, church lane, atkinson grimshaw
As a painter of light, legend and landscape I am indebted to the wonderful medium of watercolour which gives me the versatility to incorporate many different styles in to my work.http://www.glennmarshall.org/
Thanks Laura – looks like a nice evening for ducks and frogs!!
Your water is superb. Love the old fashioned looking figure in this one.
Hey – sorry for delay in replying. Thanks. Although is my own composition it incorporates a lot of the ‘Grimshaw’ effects. He added a lone woman in many of his paintings. They were not added as part of any social comment about women but merely to give a sense of scale to a painting as well as a focus.

This picture says a lot with very few elements!
Thanks. I do indeed like to pare things down and especially I like the challenge of painting with a restricted pallette.
I love his work and this speaks to me so much. Very emotive.
Thanks Esther. I think that Grimshaw is one of the most under rated artists of all time. His ability to create those amazing images that do indeed stir the emotions, has been a great inspiration to me and countless others.
A wonderfully atmospheric painting, so lovely.
Many thanks Lisa.
