This is for my son Storm
who is the light of my life.
You look at me with loving eyes
as you stumble on unsteady feet,
trusting me to catch you when you fall.
When you are hurt you come to me
your eyes filled with tears
breaking my heart.
I hold you and you are comforted.
You looked so tiny when you were born,
surrounded by hot, bright lights,
a catheter in your foot,
I wanted desparately to hold you, my son.
Now you are home and growing bigger,
and your laughter fills the house
easing my heart
and making me smile.
Sometimes when you fall asleep
I sit and hold you
and I am content.
It is hard to leave you each morning,
I miss you so much when I am gone.
I am ecstatic when I arrive home
and you greet me at the door,
your face smiling up at me,
your eyes twinkling,
your arms reaching for me.
I love you, my Stormboy,
and I am everlastingly grateful
for your presence in my life.
