The Sands Of Time....2/6/72

The red brown earth is dusty and dead
What once was a farm owned by Fred
The sun beats down as the sand moves in
Swallowing fences and sheds of tin
A few years back near the Birdsville track
He lived like a hermit lives in a shack
Trying to beat the shifting sands
That moved toward him from the desert land
Now Fred has fled to the city to live
Broke and beatin’ no heart to give
He fought a battle he could not win
Against the sands and desert wind
He fought a battle he could not win
Against the sands and desert wind
The red brown earth is dusty and dead
What once was a farm owned by Fred
