Over the Australia Day long weekend I did a walk in the Strezlecki’s with my daughter and my church’s walking group. We did the hardest section of the Grand Strezlecki Track along Billy Creek which is 13km long has 59 Creek Crossings and the track is pretty rough in some parts. Half way along the track passes this small 2.4m waterfall which with the help of some ND filters I got a shot of it that I was happy with.

Australia’s rugged landscape is an important part of my life and over many years I have explored some of the more remote parts of it on foot, ski, kayak and rope. I usually travel alone so I can take my time capturing the essence of these places without distraction. Life slows down and after a while I feel like I begin to merge with the land, nature takes me into her confidence and changes me. I hope you enjoy the fruit of these excursions.

This looks so calming, beautiful work Travis.

  • Thanks Davo, as I was walking in a group I was actually under the hammer a bit to get the shot and get back on the trail to catch up with my daughter and the rest of the group and once you take a few bracketed 15-30sec shots time can kind of start adding up but yes it was a lovely place to linger for a bit.

What an amazing shot, Travis. The whirlpool must be strong to pull the water like that!

  • Barely perseptible movement actually Mel, I used an ND6 filter and 30 second exposure to create the swirl effect, thanks for droppin by.

Must be an optical illusion then, it looks like a swell in the middle of the screen! I’m guessing the rock juts out more than I originally imagined.
