I found this amazing little cave while rock hopping along the coast between Fairy Cove and Tongue Point at Wilsons Promontory. I have rock hopped the majority of the ruggard granite coastline down there now and have found no other formation like it. The fact that it perfectly frames Shellback Island is just a bonus. About a year after taking it I showed it to an arty friend and she instantly said, “Wow it’s a sparrow”. It’s funny how when you’re too close and involved in the reality of a place that you miss the glaringly obvious. Her observation instantly transformed my perception making this shot more to me than what it had been.
This shot along with 107 others is available in my book The Prom – Wilsons Promontory National Park, Victoria, Australia
