This is one of a swag of photos I took on one incredible winters day in 2004. With its snow covered granite peaks Mt Buffalo National Park is in my opinion the most picturesque alpine area in Victoria. This view seems to be born out in the fact that it was the equal second nation park created in this state in 1898. A stunning area which will always hold the special distinction of the place I asked my wife for her hand.

Sold a big 18″×12″ framed print of this at Redgum Gallery in Lilydale last year.

For more pictures from this area check out my Mt Buffalo gallery.

Australia’s rugged landscape is an important part of my life and over many years I have explored some of the more remote parts of it on foot, ski, kayak and rope. I usually travel alone so I can take my time capturing the essence of these places without distraction. Life slows down and after a while I feel like I begin to merge with the land, nature takes me into her confidence and changes me. I hope you enjoy the fruit of these excursions.

The temporary, and slightly more permanent relationship always intrigues me, since the temporary forces, which never abate in their extremes, play the major hand in the shaping…….! Hence the topping mini-cornice, is most apt. Robin…………..

I agree, Travis. Mt Buffalo is really something special. It’s sort of isolated over there from the range, and the rocks are just incredible. Top shot.
