Happy New Year (my first 5DmkII post) by

I am fortunate to live in a house on a hill with a great view of the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne. Despite this generally the view of the fireworks on New Years Eve is fairly poor last night however there were some quite good ones close by. Certainly not a world class display but thought I’d put it up anyway as a first post from my new toy. Already liking the digital I did a few test shots and they came out way to bright so I ended up shooting this one 2 stops under.

Camera: Canon 5DmkII
Lens: EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM @ 55mm
Filter: UV
ISO: 400
Shutter Speed: 30sec
Aperture: f/22
WB: Auto

Happy New Years everyone.

Australia’s rugged landscape is an important part of my life and over many years I have explored some of the more remote parts of it on foot, ski, kayak and rope. I usually travel alone so I can take my time capturing the essence of these places without distraction. Life slows down and after a while I feel like I begin to merge with the land, nature takes me into her confidence and changes me. I hope you enjoy the fruit of these excursions.

So happy for your Travis, knowing the many many weeks you’ve been anticipating holding the new baby! Happy New Year!

  • Thanks Peter, my first impressions of this camera are amazing it really is an amazing step up from what I have been using flexibility wise (i.e. ISO50). Looking forward to doing a few side by side comparisions to really see how it performs on the IQ side of life. Happy new year bud.
