Ramshead Morn

Ramshead Morn

I took this in 2004 on one of my regular X-country ski trips in Kosciuszko National Park. On this trip I forwent the chairlift ride up Thredbo and ascended the Main Range from Dead Horse Gap. As it turned out I ended up camping half way up the ridge and the next morning spied this wonderful Snow Gum (Eucalyptus pauciflora) lit up by the first rays of the morn. Stunning area particularly under the rejuvenating snows of winter.

For other shots from this area check out my Kosciuszko gallery.

Stunning shot. Trees are nature’s sculptures and you captured a magnificent tree with amazing texture enhanced by the beautiful light and shadows in the snowy mountain.
The environment looks so pristine and refreshing. Framing this magnificent landscape with this hearty tree creates a fabulous composition.

The framing of that tree with the light is superb. The tones and textures combining with that low level light are amazing.

The rest of the scene is crisp, clear and untouched – Fantastic

Hi Rob, Snow camping is hard work with a bit of suffering involved with it being so cold the rewards are more than worth it but go into it with your eyes open. I’ve just had another article accepted by wild on my Fainters trip last year which describes it well, so you can check that out soon. Trav
