Lake Rosanne
Lake Rosanne is the final Gem in the crown of the Western Arthurs range in Tasmania, the most spectacular, ruggard and picturesque hike I’ve ever done. Seven days to walk along it’s spine and one to walk back along the plains at its base. It is also the scene of some of my favourite photographer Peter Dombrovskis most celebrated work and the place where he left this mortal coil.

Great shot Travis, wonderful reflection and colours. You got to tell me about your hike. There are a lot of Dombrovskis photographs in the rangers hut at the Overlandtrack. Beautiful.

What a special place this is Trav…love the freshness of the greens…looks like a secluded photographers paradise…maybe, just maybe I’ll get a chance to see the Arthurs one day..

This is definately a walk you work your way up to it’s is incredibly long hard and difficult, route finding is difficult and due to the amount of food packs are heavy. Hope you do make it one day it’s the best walk I’ve ever done, totally awesome.

wow yet another magical shot Trav – I would like this as a long cropped – shot…a bit of trees and that gorgeous water and rocks…. so excellently beautiful. Stunning.

Great angle and framing using the countryside. Love all the greens.

What a fantastic image – and how hard you had to work to get them both! That adds something special to its beauty!

a gem indeed, Travis ~ this is a different perspective from your ocean views and just as beautiful ~ the reflection & serenity here is immense and the pocket of misty horizon is lovely ~xx

What a magnificent trek this must be – so envy how you get out and about everywhere, particularly when you further taunt by posting glorious images like this, hrrmph. Lovely acknowledgement of one of the giants of landscape photography as well and the first one to inspire me to get involved in saving the Franklin River – now looked back on as one of the high points of my life so far. i took one look at Dombrovskis’ images in a slide show put on by TWS in 1980 and that was it – I was hooked and worked full time on the campaign thereafter.

You legend… so you’re partly to blame for saving the ‘muddy ditch’ (as the Premier at the time described this magnificient treasure), a highlight in this nations history for sure. Would of loved to have seen one of these slide shows…
Ya know the longer I take pictures and look at the pictures of todays ‘greats’ and aspirings the more amazing I think Dombrovskis is. I’d love to shoot in large format one day if I can afford too, the quality is just so amazing, I don’t think digital will ever conquer that bastian unless manufacterors cease to make the film of course.
You might want to check my Tassie gallery it’s full of other Dombrovski comments and environmental perspectives. Cheers Geoff.
