Melbourne after dark
Took this one last Saturday night after doing a percussion session down in Geelong for the new Sons of Korah album. Usually I stick to the natural landscape but this is purty nice all the same.

so so BRILLIANT
Robert Mullner
Love it Trav…I’ve often thought about doing the cityscape thing, we have such a nice looking city at night…you’ve got me wanting to get my camera out…!
Travis Easton replied
‘Get your camera out’?? I thought yours was surgically attached… ;-)
Erin Lyall
I like the different perspective of the city at night.
Tom Gomez

LindaR
I love the light ~ feeling of celebration and excitement of being out on the town ~ well done Travis ~ nice to see you “stepping out” ;) & playing out too? what do you play?
Travis Easton replied
Hi Linda,
I teach drums/ percussion for a living and have written some books too. With four kids I don’t gig as much as I used too but I still enjoy doing sessions and one off things here and there. Over the years I’ve also amassed a fairly large collection of exotic percussion instruments from around the world and more often than not my instruments get me the gig as much as my prowess as such. Thanks as always.
NICKY7
Exceptional photograph really great capture , the wheel is the key . And there is not any litter about amazing
Travis Easton replied
The litter comment is interesting, because we don’t have much I don’t notice it not being there. nice to think that we seem to be getting better at binning stuff (although I dare say council workers go at it hard too), thanks Nicki.
Rany Lutz
Super!!
Mar Silva
Beautiful lighting!
David DeWitt
Brilliant! And that goes for the lighting as well as the composition. the walkway draws you right into the city balanced beautifully with the large ferris wheel on the left andt the tall buildings on the right. This has to be one of your best!
Travis Easton replied
The bubble and what people like I always find fascinating. Personally I find the city a drag and generally avoid it where possible so I have little emotional connection with this shot. My nature shots on the other hand have a whole experience behind them of getting there and the whole state of mind I was in when taking the shot. For me this becomes inseperable from the picture itself and therefore my emotional connection is far stronger. That’s why the ‘one of your best, comments surprised me as although I like it on an aesthetic level the picture itself doesn’t actually mean anything to me. Thanks for dropping by David.
gaylene
great shot – waiting for the ferris wheel to start spinning down the street
Brett Foster
Strikingly clean shot of the city Trav. Impressive lines and lighting.
Tony Middleton
fantastic work Trav. I like the fact that you don’t have the ferris wheel spinning as i feel that would draw my eye and attention away from the path to the buildings..
Travis Easton replied
I’d love to say that was on purpose but in actual fact it was the third shot from an auto bracketing sequence and it being still for the 10 second exposure was pure luck. Thanks as always Tone.
Lois Romer
great one. havent been into the city at night for a while and this just makes me want to go.
Travis Easton replied
The ferris wheel is a great subject, I’ll post some more soon, appreciated as always Lois.
Peter Hill
Fantasmagoric light !! Very purdy indeed :)
Basia McAuley
Stunning work! Love the colour and light.
dzf1z1
Very Nice! Perhaps you should rethink your natural landscape preference! Grin.
Travis Easton replied
Funny thing is, I’m more into the nature side of it than the photography side of it… thanks for stopping by for a grin.

Really love the prespective of the bridge leading towards the distant city; there is a nice sense of depth here; especially with lines created by the wood strips.

Hi Travis,
I found your RB page just from visiting the ‘Home’ page.
I was struck by this pic on the grounds that we had a similar Ferris wheel here in Nottingham, UK, last winter.
I fully understand your philosophy about ‘craving the call of the great outdoors’ (my words) and although I live little more than a mile and a half from my home town, I still prefer the great outdoors myself.
A great ‘cityscape’, in spite of your feelings to the contrary.
Melissa Park
Congratulations!! this image has made it into the

in the ‘Under City Lights’ challenge in the Prize Challenges!! group!!
Laurie Puglia
love all the light here travis :)
Elizabeth Bravo
Very beautiful shot. I love the angles as everything seems to lean in. It draws the eye and makes you feel like you could walk right in. Beautiful. The best of the best shots make you want to find that spot and stand right there at the same time. I would….like to stand there. Great job.
Brendan Schoon
