The Alum Cliffs
These cliffs form a gorge that the Mersey river flows through on its way to Devonport and the Bass Strait. The morning was wet and misty, but in company with my friends from the “School for Seniors” in Launceston we still found interesting photo opportunities.

Fog is great. Gives the cliffs mood. Could make an interesting monochrome. Seeing as I am partial to those. :)
traveller replied
You have read my mind Anne, I have a monochrome of this image, just haven’t got round to uploading it yet.
David Hibberd
Looks so very rugged. Nice shot Ian.
traveller replied

Now that’s a very atmospheric capture, Ian, with excellent textures in the rocks, and the lovely misty background. The 105mm macro makes a great medium tele, doesn’t it?
traveller replied
Great to have your comments Bev, yes I just love that lens.
Garth Smith
This is an absolutely beautiful shot Ian.
I have seen brochures of these cliffs but never quite got there. The brochures obviously did it no justice at all. They should have used this shot instead of the water level shot that they did use. Then I would have been busting to get there.
traveller replied
Hi Garth thank you for your lovely comments.
Cheers
