Artist's Description

How?
Well, to first state the obvious, this is two photos merged together. I had to shoot both subjects with the same lighting angle. The only difference being the small subject was shot from above to get the right perspective to stand on the large hand. Both photos were layered in Photoshop and corrected to match. I had to extract both from their white backgrounds (they were shot against white) and then positioned within the frame. I placed another layer between the two and “painted in” a shadow under the small subject with a soft black brush and changed the blend mode of that layer to multiply, and making of course, the shadows darker directly around the shoes according to the light direction. I prefer painting in the shadows as I get more control as to where they go. There’s even a slight shadow across the large thumb. I always say, if you notice the shadows, then you’ve done a bad job. Then I applied a gradient for the background. I post processed the whole image in Lightroom where I desaturated the image slightly, increased the clarity and applied a minor split tone of a light brown color (hence the warm tone). That’s it!
