Rest My Burning Heart

Rest My Burning Heart belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical

Through the door
(across the threshold)
I step and drop
my hunter’s case.

The other men’s faces
I stared through and lied,
the games I cheated
to know I’d win,
and the bounty I stole
To make my own…

All forgotten
in your embrace.

For as I end
each weary day,
I fall upon this
homely hearth
to rest my burning heart.

Beautiful and loving, the last stanza ties the whole piece together with such a powerful truth, that most would relate to.
