Artist's Description

“eternity” sumi-e enso dry brush acrylic painting.

Circling the flexible state of being…

“eternity” is an original dry brush acrylic painting. It is on heavy stock, white paper. Deep gray backing and slight border.

I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ paintings. This painting is from my ‘Beauty of Bamboo’ series.

A circle — known as “enso” in Japanese — universally implies completeness, all. A zen circle can also imply zero, sunyata, absolute, true reality, enlightenment, no beginning/no end in all phenomena, no symbol, the spread of Dharma as a turning wheel, harmony, and womb.

“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”
- Bruce Lee -
