Sacred Circle - Original Enso Zen Painting by

“Sacred Circle” sumi-e enso ink brush pen zen painting.

Circling the flexible state of being…

“Sacred Circle” is an original painting using a deep burgundy ink brush pen. It measures 8-1/2” x 11” and is on heavy stock, textured cream colored paper with a thin forest green border.

I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ paintings. This painting is from my ‘Beauty of Bamboo’ series.

A circle — known as “enso” in Japanese — universally implies completeness, all. A zen circle can also imply zero, sunyata, absolute, true reality, enlightenment, no beginning/no end in all phenomena, no symbol, the spread of Dharma as a turning wheel, harmony, and womb.

In the circle we are all equal. No one is above or below you. The Sacred Circle is designed to create Unity.

This painting comes unframed.

“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”

I studied illustration and design at The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. I am married and the mother of two wonderful boys; one is a college graduate and the other is currently attending college.

I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and Chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ painting. I love the grace and beauty of bamboo.
