“Passage” sumi-e enso ink brush pen drawing/painting.
Circling the flexible state of being…
“Passage” is an original painting using a black ink brush pen. It measures 8-1/2” x 11” and is on heavy stock, textured ivory white paper with a thin black border
I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ paintings. This painting is from my ‘Beauty of Bamboo’ series.
A circle — known as “enso” in Japanese — universally implies completeness, all. A zen circle can also imply zero, sunyata, absolute, true reality, enlightenment, no beginning/no end in all phenomena, no symbol, the spread of Dharma as a turning wheel, harmony, and womb.
