"enso blu" Original enso sumi-e ink brush pen wash painting by

I dedicate this painting to the color ‘blue’. Our sky is blue and so is the ocean, flowers, bubbles, sapphires, blueberries and many other gifts of nature.

“enso blu” is a sumi-e enso ink brush pen painting.

Circling the flexible state of being…

“enso blu” is an original painting using blue ink and a turquoise blue ink brush pen. It measures 8-1/2” x 11” and is on heavy stock, textured cream colored paper with a thin royal blue border.

I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ paintings. This painting is from my ‘Beauty of Bamboo’ series.

A circle — known as “enso” in Japanese — universally implies completeness, all. A zen circle can also imply zero, sunyata, absolute, true reality, enlightenment, no beginning/no end in all phenomena, no symbol, the spread of Dharma as a turning wheel, harmony, and womb.

I try to set my scanner to be as close as possible to the original color of the art piece. There is a slight color variation between the digital and the scanned original art.

“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”
- Bruce Lee -

I assume reproduction rights to all of my original art. Nothing may be used in any way, shape or form on merchandise or promotional items of any kind.

Thank you…

I studied illustration and design at The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. I am married and the mother of two wonderful boys; one is a college graduate and the other is currently attending college. Since they are growing up, I have more time to myself which I enjoy channeling into my drawing and painting.

I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and Chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ painting. I love the grace and beauty of bamboo.
