i feel that this piece is one of my finest. It captures the true beauty of bamboo.
Original painting was painted with india ink, acrylics and dry brush pen on a heavy stock, 8-1/2″ × 11″ textured white paper.
I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ paintings.
“Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind.”

I studied illustration and design at The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. I am married and the mother of two wonderful boys; one is in college and the other in High School. Since they are growing up, I have more time to myself which I enjoy channeling into my drawing and painting.
I am inspired by the elegance and simplicity of japanese ‘sumi-e’ and Chinese ‘shui-mo hua’ painting. I love the grace and beauty of bamboo.
