Out at the Gordonbrook Dam just outside of Kingaroy in Queensland’s South Burnett, Australia, lives a cormorant. It’s a rather large dam and yet this majestic bird is mostly seen in one small corner of the dam, sitting on either an old dead tree perched on the waters edge, or this small clump of trees, rising out of the water in a little inlet part of the dam.
He sits and surveys his surroundings, with a determined vigilance. Nothing gets past his eagle eye. Holding his head high in manner that spoke to me of regal elegance and mastery of his domain. Nikon D90, Sigma 150-500mm lens.
