I baked whole wheat bread today and made this mini loaf for my kids. It seemed like a good photo op, this sweet little loaf, warm out of the oven, ready for the eating with a little buttery goodness on top.

yes, the just ready bread are so different from the stuff from supermarket:)) ha. i didnt grow up in a bread culture:) so i didnt know how to enjoy(cook) the bread itself… eat better stoke brood( the long one) recently:)) it might take a bit time to cook such nice food.. good results!!

  • So true! We usually buy store bread, but my four-year-old daughter right away after taking a bite said, “Mommy, this is SOOOOO good!” because even those little mouths can taste the difference! I think I should start baking bread more often. :-)

Are you Asian? Rice, not bread? My brother lives in Hong Kong and is married to a Chinese woman, and she doesn’t care much for bread. We lived in the Philippines for a while when I was a child too, and didn’t eat quite as much bread as North Americans do either.

im chinese. we eat rice and some kind steamed bon:))- chinese bread or some baked Turkish type…bread. so i dont know how to make bread i dont have enough tools either. my dutch friend is most of french blood so he enjoyed bread a lot and i learned a bit. we also buy from bakery sometimes mostly from supermaket. i cook rice or noodle or porriage with grains and beans. surely homemade food is different than the packaged ones:)) cheers for that!! you have more kids then that’s worthy to cook fresh food.

  • Yes, Europeans love their bread! I’ll bet your rice and noodle dishes are delicious! :-) It is good to do home-cooking with kids… they learn to eat healthier that way. :-)

  • Thanks, Jane! Yes, it was delicious – even my four-year-old was commenting on how yummy it was compared to regular (store-bought) bread. :-)

Wonderful…You had my attention when I saw this, I love bread and butter!

  • Thank you, Penny! Yes, there’s nothing like bread and butter. Brings back memories of my childhood, warm bread with butter, baked fresh once a week. I think it’s a tradition I ought to bring back for my kids! :-)
