sorry i didnt know any other way than to save half then go in and out with the saved properties thing! but there here now!

I much Prefer the second
Debbie Black, 4 months ago
I like them both!!! but if I was going to buy I would pick the first one… slightly more colour to draw the eye in, whereas the 2nd you almost need to be looking for the colour before you see it….. hope that helps!

any partic reason why??

You know, I can’t tell exactly what you did so it must all have something to do with colouration a colourblind bloke like me can’t distinguish. But what I think the computer is telling me is that there is a field of something other than black and white that changed sizes, becoming smaller in the second image. If that’s what the edit was, I have to say you have a very artistic and good idea but didn’t quite nail it. What I mean is the area of the edit is very precise by shape, not by subject. Here’s a re-edit of what I think you wanted your finished photo to look like: untitled. By following the edge of the drop’s natural shape with the desaturation brush, ALL of the colour is limited to the single focus of your drop of water.
I might add that you did an extremely good job of getting the focus “through” the drop of water. This is a technique I’ve studied and attempted for a YEAR and haven’t come anywhere nearly this close. If you can, tell me how you did it, including distance from the drop, distance from the drop to the colour behind it, relative height of the drop to the camera’s position, and anything else you can remember.
Obviously, you have a great eye for what you want to show and better software than what you were using is going to make a WORLD of difference. But in my opinion, what you are doing naturally is magic and the added software for “cleaning up” things or making killer edits will only enhance the gift you already have. J
(Please read the above with the proverbial grain of salt cuz I don’t know squat but have a lot of opinions. Also, since I don’t get to re-edit a post and I don’t know if the picture will show, forgive me if it doesn’t and I will correct it somehow ASAP!)

Sam,
I have to agree with Lenny. I think that it would be better to only highlight the drop or have it all in color.

Hi Sam,just found your journal. The first one is better, but I think it needs a slight crop around the drop to cut out the background noise ,will lose some resolution but should still get a decent sized print from it. I use picasa too but on look out for something different.

I think the first one is the best as i like the extra shine on top of the branches.
