Update: 6/11/13 We are preparing for another funeral, this time it is my children’s cousin. He was 25 years old with an infant daughter. We are devastated. Our losses are never ending.

My daughter went to a wake yesterday for a friend that overdosed. This was her fifth one. Our beautiful community is riddled with drugs, heroin being the drug of choice for many of these young people. We have drug task forces, drug counselors in the schools, and many worried parents. We don’t know what the answer is.

Thank you to the hosts of all the groups here on RB. Your hard work is evident in the work submitted and featured. It’s important that we have a place to display our work, and you so kindly give us that. xx

Words are not just words
they are kisses
on the lips of silence
that speak of your essence

and your words
are the most lovely kisses

Really sorry Tori. She sound not have to endure this so young. Blessings and prayers to you both.

  • Thank you, Donna. She is way too young to know so many people that have died.

Goodness sweet friend, this time and place is intense and may the lovely loved one that seemed to not want this life for whatever reason, now brought back home to love.
As an ex user in so many areas including food I can say it is something else I am still around. However you know my belief system and the higher sense of who we be is magnificent and is more powerful than what seems to not work.

Hugging you and your community and OH my goodness this work of art is so full up with heart and the heart of the one passed. You have the ability to take in so much love!

  • I knew you would see the love in this, Lina. xxx

A beautiful tribute to a lost friend. What the answer is, I don’t know. Some doctors say it is ‘addicitve personality’, but it seems too glib an answer to me. I do beleive in part a lot of the cause can be the amount of highly processed foods we eat – in some cases from brith – which introduce chemicals into our systems that upset the natural balance. But there is no simple answwr, and, tragically, no cure.

Hugs to you and your daughter.

  • Thank you for commenting. It is very much appreciated.

What a wonderful image! So sorry for the reason for this inspiration! Seems to be a growing problem everywhere!

  • I know we’re not the only ones, which makes it even sadder, I guess. Thank you for your wonderful comment.
