Tackle Box by tori yule

My husband is a devoted fisherman. Starting in early summer he fishes just about every evening until very late into the night. Most of the time it’s just him and the cat.

I love Thoreau ’s words, “Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” This is so true for my husband.

I made this for Eddie. It is a small drawer that I painted and distressed. I added some blue and green paper in some places. I then looked around the house and garage to find the lures, shells, coral, rope, and sinkers. I also cut a small piece of wood and painted it to look like a nautical flag. He loved this, except when he went to look for a certain lure I borrowed.

I then photographed it and edited it in PS CS5

Fantastic!! Charming and very beautiful, Tori.

I was wondering what he might have to say about his lures. Well, I guess he can borrow them right back.

  • Thank you so much for your very nice comment. He does borrow them and then I take them back when he’s done. I appreciate your visit!!

Very Creative and so true about the real reason for fishing. My husband too is a avid fisherman but never takes the cat!! LOL

  • Thanks Cheryl, I’m glad you can relate to this. My husband doesn’t have a choice about the cat, she just follows him on the beach. It really is cute.

you are so loveing and so talented…… I love this ! I want it. .they say a person learns allot from fishing and farming. I so believe that . Just gorgous work , tori!

  • Thank you Isa, you are so sweet and I appreciate your sharing your thoughts with me. He loves when he catches a fish, but it doesn’t really matter if he does, he loves being out on the beach at night when it’s so quite.

What wonderful work—all the tiny details, Tori! Creative attention to detail, oh and nice shot!

  • Hi Jan Thank you for your comment. There seems to be a lot of detail, but it was easy to put it together. We have so much stuff around, I go on treasure hunts for my projects. Found items!

I used to call myself a Trout Fisherman Widow.. became all too true… but Tori, this is a fantastic gift, and a true treasure in many respects. He will appreciate this.. lures are replenishable.. you, are not xoxox

  • Thank you Maureen, I know Christopher loved to fish, too. All things can be replenished, except for us. It was made with love.
