“Without books the development of civilization would have been impossible. They are the engines of change, windows on the world, “Lighthouses” as the poet said “erected in the sea of time.” They are companions, teachers, magicians, bankers of the treasures of the mind, Books are humanity in print."

Words are not just words
they are kisses
on the lips of silence
that speak of your essence
and your words
are the most lovely kisses

Lovely work and apt Schopenhauer quote, tori. But educate me: that’s a book-cover tool of some sort? Excellent angles and setup.
Hi Jan, That’s a candle that my mother-in-law sat on top of the books. I’m not sure about a book cover tool. The set up is hers, I took the photograph. Thank you, I always appreciate your feedback.

’ i believe the tool is a candle holder that when placed under the book balances the candle above the pages so one could read in the dark.’ according to Teri. That makes sense, Jan, and I thought my mother-in-law just liked how it looked.

One of my very favorites of yours Tori – wonder why? I sooooooooo love books, particularly old ones and you’ve treated this beautiful still life with such a sense of nostalgia. Gorgeous work, my dear friend. xox
Hi Lianne. I’m so happy to see you here. I so love books, too. They are one of my favorite things in the world. It’s a joy to know that this touched you, and I’m glad you feel well enough to share your thoughts. Love to you my friend. xxxx
