This poem was written by Chris

This write gives me so much hope, and joy.

I was born again on a Saturday night
when the moon came in my dream
and woke me to live in the 3am
I emerged under expansive wings
painting across the island of the sky
an angel with biblical beauty hovered
dispensing love stored in ancient scriptures
poetic verse unwritten spewed from my lips
and a minstrel of voices that had confounded
scattered
burying their ending in the bowels of heaven
I was free from the slavery of death
noose tied in my misery
came undone
scales fell from my eyelids and I saw the beginning
the revelation hidden under spiritual warfare
opening
life was no longer a walk through
a journey with gravesite ending
I offered my arms wide open
and the elders from my infantile cries
stood on clouds
pouring the tears taken when I spoke
for the first time outside my mama’s womb
onto my skin
they had manifested into happiness
my spirit which had signed death’s will
lifted amongst the trees
I soared
feeling the face of the sky
stroking the depth of unspoken truth
the home sought
a voracious joy peaked in my blood
the elders smiled with a longtime coming
glowing
the wings of the angel stood in silence
and I flew
for a moment I flew
believing
knowing
there is more to this life
than the journey I have walked
thus far.

Words are not just words
they are kisses
on the lips of silence
that speak of your essence

and your words
are the most lovely kisses

Tori I had seen Chris’s beautiful comment earlier, and your exchange, feeling moved by it too. How beautiful this collaboration is – amazing words and incredible image- wings fully outstretched and gaze so focussed. xxx

  • I was also touched that he liked my image image enough to pair it with his beautiful poem. I would like to see him add this ti his poem, but he’s having trouble with the link. Thank you so much, Rosie for your sharing your thoughts on this!

What an absolutely stunning collaboration, Tori – you have so captured the essence of Chris’ poem here. We have all come so far and yet have so far to go in both freedom and in joy. One of your most beautiful images, my dear friend xoxox

  • Lianne, you also understand how joy and peace can be so elusive, so when I read Chris’ poem I knew that he had found some peace. He had once commented on one of my pieces that he wished he was a bird, and I associated this with his being unburdened, joyful and free. I pictured him soaring through the sky. I wanted him to add my image, Crane’s Crying to his poem, but he was having trouble. We decided that I would create a new image and I would add his poem. I would like him post this to his portfolio so his friends and followers of his work could see this. Thank you my friend. I’m so glad you saw this and understood this connection.
