The Ferry operates between the St. George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island and the Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhattan. The trip is about 25 minutes long. The ferry runs around the clock, every day of the year. Generally, the ferry runs every fifteen minutes during rush hour, and every half hour or hour during nights and weekends. The ferry is mostly used by commuters. It carries 60,000 passengers a day. It is also a great way to see the Statue of Liberty, the downtown skyline, and the Brooklyn Bridge. The ferry is free.

Taken while sailing during a short therapeutic stay in Manhattan. It was truly a healing time. I remembered what it felt like to be happy.

Looks like a battle ship cruiser, pretty cool being free, I would spend all day on it sketching.

  • It’s a huge ferry, but did you have to mention war again? I was on a sailboat when we passed by, and I felt very free, and very happy. The most important thing is that I love seeing you here. xx

Good old Staten Island; I remember it well. When my father was a young boy, back in the Roaring Twenties, he would shine shoes on the ferry to help his mother and father support him and his 9 siblings—5 cents a pop; made two dollars a week, which was big money back then.

  • Great memories, Joe. Thanks so much for stopping in and sharing.
