After recently spending a few days in Washington DC, I remembered a tour guide from more than 15 years ago, refer to Thomas Jefferson as the 123 President. He was the first Secretary of State, the second Vice President, and the third President of the United States.

Writing the Declaration of Independence would eventually be considered one of Jefferson’s major achievements. His preamble has been considered an enduring statement of human rights, and came to represent a moral standard to which the United States would strive. All men are created equal has been called “one of the best-known sentences in the English language” containing "the most potent and consequential words in American history.

I was thinking how cool it must have been to live in those times. Hanging with Ben Franklin, and John Adams, trying to start a new country, probably drinking a few beers, and writing some of the most important documents of our time.

What a wonderful way to remember Jefferson. Excellent capture.

  • It’s funny what we remember. I loved that he was called the 123 president. Thanks so much for stopping in and leaving a great comment, Bunny.

sure had nothing to say! hmmm!! 0r something other that made another war……….

  • Still holding a grudge, Andy? War is one thing I can’t understand, and when I finished this today, I hadn’t even thought about war, just how brilliant these man were to write " All (wo)men are created equal, and “We the people”.
The constitution, that was written after this, is still used everyday in courts, to determine what the law is. I appreciate your visit, Andy. I always do. I know it hit some chord for you to comment. xx

You’ve turned something, apparently quite ordinary, into something fascinating here. Love it :)

Sorry if I’ve missed a key reference, but I still think your treatment of this subject has greatly broadened it’s interest value.

  • Thank you so much, Karl. I appreciate your visit and very nice comment. You didn’t miss anything, just something I had an idea about after spending time in Washington, and remembering the tour guide telling us about the 123 president.
