Born in 1977, Luis Enrique Cuéllar (Tordo) grew up fascinated by the world around him, he always loved the city. He began to enjoy art and pop culture through music, art books and (mainly) the TV.
Graphic designer by profession and artist by conviction. He studied graphic design in the Escuela Gestalt de Diseño (Gestalt School of Design) and specializes on Corporate Identity, but in here you will find his work as Pop Art artist, which have been influenced for artists like Hopper, Warhol, Basquiat and Register.
Luis Enrique always made small pieces of art here and there, but a more professional approach as an artist began back in 2005 when through the DeviantART community found a place to experiment with art, he quickly got fond in making art, he approached other artists from around the world and learned from them.
Nowadays Luis Enrique has body of work composed mainly of pop art and collages, almost all of them were made with digital mediums or a combination of traditional drawing and digital art.
Indeed I could just say that I make odd quirky pop art and collages, but I feel like boring you with some other details about my work.
I want to make pop art with sense of humor, not an obvious one but a quirky one, something that gives you an enjoyable image and at the same time makes you think for a second, then delivers you a punch line that has the taste of a enjoyable bad joke. Sometimes I do more serious pieces, with a slightly darker side.
I also aim to simplicity, not minimalism (even when I like it), but to give mi work just the necessary elements to work, so neither I nor you get lost in worthless especial effects.
And finally I’m just going to say that sometimes I make things that have a small dose of nostalgia, just for the sake of it.
