Boy Eating Strawberies. by Anthony Vella

Currently unavailable for purchase

A short morning visit to the City of Siggiewi, where an Agricultural show was taking place, led me to this young barefoot boy sitting on the base of the huge Statue of St Nicholas, the City’s Patron Saint, quietly eating Strawberies out of a small plastic container. Although standing some 30 meters away from him in the crowd he seems to have spoted me pointing my telephoto lens at him a split second before I took his picture. However, indifferent to his dirty feet, fingers and face, he soon returned to his container of ripe juicy strawberies. His friend sitting a meter or so to his right (not shown in this picture of course) looked uninterested in the fruit.

  • Hola Srta. Lorena. You flatter me with your kind comments. I don’t really consider my work to be any better than yours or anybody else’s for that matter. I guess it’s just a matter of taste or style. We’re all good artists here on Redbuble and I’m truly honoured to form part of this beautiful group and its wonderful to feel accepted. Thank you for your visit. It’s always my pleasure to communicate with such a wonderful person as you. God Bless you my friend.

What an absolutely wonderful capture Anthony. I love the barefeet and yes even the smudges on his face! It is framed wonderfully by the iron work as well. XXSUEXX

  • Hi Sue. So glad you like this candid shot of this lively-looking young boy. As soon as I saw him I knew he’d make a very interesting subject. Too bad he spotted me in the crowd and looked straight at my camera just as I released the shutter. Thank you for your visit and kind comment my dear friend.

Great photo, with value added by your narrative. I also identify with the boy in his dedication to strawberries. When hiking, I run into wild strawberries, I am prone to give them highest priority!
