I was sitting with Romina, my elder daughter and her daughter Jody Grace, in this caffe’ in Valletta, quitely sipping a capuccino, when all a sudden this huge head appeared in the side-street doorway. Two seconds later, its owner, the Driver of one of the ‘Karrozzini’, ( traditional horse-drawn carriages now used to carry tourists round Valletta) entered the caffe’ smiling, conscious of the fact that the huge head which emerged so suddenly in the doorway must have startled some of the customers.

Who wouldn’t be startled when suddenly such a huge head appears?Of course you took the opportunity of shooting it.
    Was the cappuccino good?

  • Yes thank you Betty, the capuccino was great. This was a lucky shot. I happened to have my camera right in front of me on the table when the head appeared. Appreciate your visit and kind comment my friend.

Your story made me smile Tony :) Really fabulous shot. Sometimes those spur of the moment shots make the best ones! Great capture :)

  • Thank you Shelly. What nearly made me choke on my capuccino was a couple of tourists that were sitting right in front of me. The lady had her back to the door, just two meters away, unaware of what was going on behind her. Just as soon as the head appeared, her husband told her to look behind her. She nearly fell off her chair when she saw this great big head just a few feet away from her. Guess she never expected it.

I have the same problem. I’m on a diet as of tomorrow. Nice picture and great title, Anthony. xoxo

  • Hi Lori……I think most of us would want to go on a diet after all the food gobbling we participate in during these fesivities. I’m just waiting for my retirement (less than four months to go now!) to start my daily walks. A couple of hundred meters from my home will see me into open country and less than that is the sea-shore. Thank you for your visit and kind comment my freind. PS. Don’t worry too much about your looks, bet you look just great and besides, the real beauty of a person lies within.

Stunning shot – I love the composition and use of B&W.

  • Thank you lally……it was more of a point and shoot shot, lucky the Manual settings were just right for the situation, however my Mr Olympus did his job. Appreciate your visit and kind comment.

It pays to have the camera at the ready at all times. Great shot Tony.

  • Hi Gail…it is now a habbit of mine not to leave home without my Mr Olympus, even going to the stores, (excluding going to work of course). Its not the first time that I notice something worth snapping while driving and I have to turn around to try and find a parking space, and walk back to the scene. Some of the times I’m lucky to find everything still in place. Other times I disappoint myself in finding that the lighting has changed the whole scenario, or people or animals have moved. Well that’s the element of luck I suppose. Thank you for your visit and kind comment my friend.

Haha! Sounds like the kind of place I would love to visit! Having a horse peer in at me while I am sipping on my capuccino….and then falling out of my chair! That would be a perfect holiday memory :)

  • Well Shelly….I’m sure that if you ever come to Malta for a holiday, you’ll have the time of your life just as long as you look at the brighter side of life and not to expect too much. Photography wise, I’m sure you’ll be in paradise.

What were you doing with a camera in your hand? You were supposed to be enjoying the company of your daughter and grand-daughter:)) Don’t worry, I would have done exactly the same :) This a great image Tony, well done.

  • Hello Alex… know me well enough by now. I’d never leave home without my camera except for going to work, and that’s for obvious reasons. Once out with my camera it’s never hung from my neck but always hand-held at the ready….thats me my friend. Thank you for your visit and kind comment.
