Nature's Golden Wonder

Beautiful Golden Wheat Sheaves. One of Nature’s answer to many a starving nation. Would grow anywhere unattended, and so easily. Exploited by rich nations for their own benefit. When will we ever learn?

Lovely deep contrast in this one Tony, the colour is fantastic, and the lighting awesome. Love what you did with this..;-)

  • Anthony Vella replied

Hi Zoe…the early rising Sun provided the lighting and my friend Angelo provided the wheat in his field. I just pressed the trigger while Mr Olympus did his unfailing duty. Thank you for visiting my Gallery and leaving such an encouraging comment my friend.

Tony, this is truly an awesome image! The light, texture, and just the shapes, the art of it….is stunning! And you are so right, but as long as there is greed, lust, and dishonesty…there will be this kind of problem! So very sad!

  • Anthony Vella replied

Hi Elaine my friend. We all should be thankful that we live in a cozy part of the world, but we must not forget those who really need our help. Those who are dying of thirst and hunger, of simple colds and those who have never seen an Asprin in all their lives.
Thank you for your visit and comment. God Bless.

Beautiful light & tones in this Tony. We grow plenty of this crop around here. I’m told that when there is an oversupply. It gets dumped in the ocean. What a waste when there are those that are needy.

  • Anthony Vella replied

Thank you Gail…..I cannot agree with you more. The same thing happens here in Europe….over production of fruit and veg gets dumped. What a shame.

I recognized this as wheat as soon as I saw it. It is grown here in the midwest of of the US. Many farmers are starting to grow corn now to make biofuels. I will never understand why poor nations do not grow it. I do know that the Peace Corps and other groups have tried to teach people in poor countries to grow wheat. There really is no need for anyone to be hungry. I don’t see how politics is involved. It is nature’s gold for sure. The picture is beautiful.

  • Anthony Vella

    Anthony Vella

Hi Lori. I titled this picture thus, because wheat is also finding its way in the Gold Class like Oil. Wheat is currently being grown to produce Bio-fuels. It is fetching a high price. People in poor countries do not deliberately want to go hungry, but if wheat and other cereals are fetching a higher price for converting into Bio-fuels, do you think that any farmer or rich Nation would care about the hungry?
Thank you for visiting and leaving such an interesting comment.

    G’day Toninu,

This is a very tidy and attractive photograph of this very wheaten scene.
You can’t miss with the lovely light and golden shades of the wheat which you have caught so well here with good exposure and processing.
Your selective focus and the lovely bokeh work so well with your very thoughtful composition.
    Good work that man!

  • Anthony Vella replied

G’day to you Dennis. I was crouched low in the shade of a rubble wall (to eliminate my shadow) waiting for the sunlight to hit my subject. Since the Sun was still very low in the Horizon, light was travelling very fast and I only had a chance of not more than 3 shots before I lost all the required effect altogether. I also had a slight breeze against me which constantly rocked the wheat sheaves making it a now or never opportunity. The bokeh was achieved by my faithful Zuiko 40-150mm lens set at F4.5 and my Olympus E-330 set on manual focus. Speed was set on 1/80, a bit too slow for that lens, considering the camera was hand-held, but the best I could do because of the lighting condition. The past processing was very minimal, just a slight sharpening and light adjustment. The rest was, what I consider under the circumstances, to be, a lucky shot. Thank you for your visit my friend. Your wise and prudent comments are so very much appreciated.

Thank you Phil. To tell you the truth my friend, it wasn’t an easy shot, but I’m glad it turned out good enough under the circumstances. This was the best of the three shots I took.
