The Last Caress
Its duty for the day is over. The Sun is now slowly retiring behind the Hills. As a last farewell, and a token of affection, its last rays lovingly caress the tops of the buildings whilst casting dark shadows in the Alley below, heralding the coming of the Night.

The Last Caress belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Dilapidated Buildings, European Everyday Life (add the place!), Everyday Life, Former DPF Members, Light In The Darkness and The Urban Environment Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Warren Williams
Like this, lighting is spot on.
Anthony Vella replied
Hi Warren….this is another example of being in the right place at the right time. I’m quite pleased myself with the result. Thank you for your visit and comment my friend.
Elizabeth Salib
This is looovely. I love how old and worn it looks, and yet how elegant and stylish it looks at the same time.
Anthony Vella replied
Hi Elizabeth. Welcome to my gallery. Thank you for your visit and comment. BTW, I’ve just sent you a bubblemail if you care to look.
Ellen
This is really very beautiful! The light is excellent here and the colors too.
(where is this taken?)
Anthony Vella replied
Hi Ellen….this is Victoria the Capital of Gozo. This is why I told you to look up while walking through the Alleys at the back of St. George’s Basilica. Another place to visit is the Cittadella (the small but historical City at the top of the hill in Victoria.) Thank you for your visit and comment. Have fun.
Ellen
Thanks Tony!

Beautifully put Tony….lovely description of the days end!!! to go with this tranquil, restful image!!!*-)
Anthony Vella replied
Hi Deb…..at my age you learn to appreciate what you took for granted when you were younger. I often stop to admire nature’s work, in all its splendour. I once wrote in DPF that Nature’s beauty is only appreciated by those who recognize it.
Thank you for stopping by and comment so favourably.

Judi Taylor
really love this… The light and shadow makes a very dramatic picture. Seems old worldy, if you can understand that!!
Anthony Vella replied
Hi Judi. Thank you for your visit and comment. Yes I think it would qualify as old worldy. In fact the building is at least 300 years old!
Silvia Ganora
Really nice capture and processing. At first I thought it was taken in Italy…
Anthony Vella replied
Ciao Silvia. This is Mediterranean style building. It does resemble Southern Italy and most Sicilian Architecture. Even some North African. There was no processing done to the picture except some straightening and cropping…the rest is as God made it. You can tell by the long shadows where the Sun was. Appreciate your visit and comment.
Lori Peters
I’ve never heard such a romantic description of the sun setting. What a beutiful description. Your picture is lovely, also. This is such an interesting and charming old building. I love the colors.
Anthony Vella replied
Hi Lori….thank you for your visit. I’m glad you like the picture and description. All old buildings have that distinctive look. I guess that’s why I like to photograph them so much.
Alison Cornfor...

Anthony Vella replied
Thank you Alison. Were you to come to Malta, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the large variety of windows and doors you’ll find. To me, the ones in the old villages are the most beautiful.
