There is much debate about “making” images as opposed to “taking” photos. Personally I prefer to find my images.

Photography is part of my journey into seeing. When I come across a scene, for want of a better word, wether it be a landscape, a candid shot of a person in a crowd, or a lonely figure in a streetscape, the challenge is how best to capture that image, in order to share what I saw.

There are pictures that I see, and my head says, “That would make a great photo.” Then there is a completely different state of mind, like observing without paying attention, call it the art of noticing, something makes you turn around and look, and you “find” a picture.

Without thinking too much about the technical details, you pick up the camera and snap of a shot. Is it a snapshot, or a candid shot?
