People call the Zhinan Temple, Taipei, Taiwan the Temple of 1000 Steps – They lied…that only takes you to the Yuanzhen Pond and the Tudigong shrine; the gate of the Chunyang Chapel requires a further 300 steps.
Zhinan (also Chi Nan) Temple is located in the hills of Mucha, 285 metres above sea level.
Founded in the late 1800s it is one of the oldest temples in Taipei.
Zhinan Temple honours Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, with four main halls, five secondary halls and many walkways stretching out into the grounds.
