“Vintage” digital art creation of the Bullock Team hauling a blackbutt log on a timber truck made from ironbark.
Original taken at Timbertown, Wauchope, near Port Macquarie NSW, of Bullock Driver Craig Lockwood and the team led by “Cocky” and “Spanker” – noise and grain added in Simply HDR for Mac, Sepia tone and vintage texture added in PSE 10.
According to Craig:
“Bullocks are not only part of the Timbertown Heritage but also a part of the Australian Heritage – they not only brought timber to the mill, they were also used around the mill. Bullocks were used in every major construction prior to the 1900’s. The main four cargoes they carried were wheat, wool, sugarcane and timber, but there is nothing they haven’t been used for during this period. Since the main industry during the 1800’s in this area was timber, hundreds of bullock teams would have worked up and down the coast and in any area where timber was harvested.”

Craig is a classic isn’t he – love the fact that he doubles as the penny farthing rider as well!! Great nostalgic treatment Tony – certainly is in keeping with the subject matter.

Thanks for adding this to your favourites and for your comment Dave. I tried to reflect the times when this was the only means of hauling logs.

i thjink you caught the “old timey” feel very well tony. reminded me of some old family pics of my grands. my family came to america in 1654 and continually pioneered west as population grew
Thanks Dave…weren’t those folks so brave and resilient? Nowadays we complain if we have to wait in traffic!
