Offcuts of Huon Pine logs on the wharf outside Morrisons Sawmill.

Established in the 1940s, Morrisons Huon Pine Sawmill, on the Esplanade at Strahan, demonstrating the sawing and woodworking techniques used in earlier times is a major tourist attraction as well as a supplier to the local woodworking crafts and galleries.

Strahan is a small town and former port on the west coast of Tasmania, Australia. Originally developed as a port of access for the mining settlements in the area, Strahan was a vital location for the timber industry that existed around Macquarie Harbour.

The Huon Pine Trunk suspended from the hoist was felled up river in the 1960s.

Taken with my Pentax k-r on 30 April 2012.
