Aerial shot of the Sydney home of the Mighty Dragons, St George Illawarra Rugby League Team, 2010 NRL Premiers and World Club Champions beating Wigan 21-15 at the weekend.
Centre left of shot is Jubilee Oval, Kogarah and behind it the St George Leagues Club (aka The Taj Mahal).
Beyond that is Kogarah Bay, the Georges River with the Captain Cook Bridge (left) and Tom Ugly’s Bridge (right). On the other side of the river is Sutherland Shire (and Sylvania Waters for ageing TV soap fans), Cronulla and the Royal National Park.
Back in the 1960’s, although an ex Rugby Union player, I had to become a St George Rugby League supporter to get to first base with my future wife and her family who lived nearby. I stuck with them through good times and bad – and so did my wife with me.
Taken with Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH1 point & shoot from the passenger cabin of Boeing 737.
