these are like 50plus macro 10cm photos stitched together – click move light – click move light – is there a easier way to photograph paintings? how is everyone else capturing their paintings? this is driving me nuts!

Tony there is no average! Each painters works at there own pace. Brett Whitley was known to knock up a painting in just hours (drug enhanced) but then work on others for months. The hardest thing for an artist is knowing when to stop.
I’m interested to know how you work because while the colours in your images appear so very well blended the brush strokes contradict the flow! Please don’t take this as an insult, I’m just curious! This appplies to your previous work, not so much to the new stuff.
As far as photographing paintings are concerned I take One image which gives me approximately 90×60cm image. Sometimes it is harder depending on the dimension of your work, whether you can get the image dead straight on your image without warping etc. I use photoshop to change the pixels per inch to 300 and try to correct anty distortion of the image. Sounds like your way is time consuming but you probably end up with better resolution at the end of it.
This comment is very long I know but I wanted to give you a thoughtful answer because you put a lot of time into your work and don’t seem to be getting much feedback.
In the end you have to be true to yourself!!

i run over the images with a clear varnish, maybe i’ll stop doing that and shoot them first?.. the varnish is supposed to be non-shine.. but it’s shiney lol.. and thank you for your long comment…

That would help, otherwise its like shooting an image behind glass, very hard to do!
