We have had quite a few of these lovely butterflies around this year, mainly found on the yellow Fleabane flower.

    Again nice and sharp, lovely.

  • Thanks for your comment. Hardly seen any of these in previous years but thanks (probably) to organic farming this year has been good. Find some yellow Fleabane at the right time of the year and there is a good chance that one of these will be around somewhere.

Plenty seen up here too Tony, including the Painted Lady, which I don’t see in your thread. Very suprised you haven’t got one.

  • We have had thousands of Painted Lady butterfly this year and I have now posted a picture but from a different angle than the usual top shot, although I have plenty of others I preferred this one.

Lovely shot of both M and F of this pretty little species.

super detail, and a tough subject to get a great shot, well done.

  • Thanks Paul. This is a lovely butterfly that I have not seen much of in previous years. Maybe I will be able to get some better shots this year. I think I took this shot with my Panasonic FZ28 a surprisingly good all-in-one camera for the price and easy to carry while walking the dog. A Nikon and 105mm might have been better but DOF would probably have been a lot less.
