Retired Capt. Chris Stewart helped plan and took part in a World speed record flight and routine “Global Power” mission. This record setting mission, code named “Coronet Bat” by the United States Air Force demonstrated the B-1B’s global combat capability by bombing in both the eastern and western hemisphere test ranges during the same mission and to establish new; around-the-world speed records.
Two B-1B’s flew the mission and a third B-1 went half the way in case one of the lead aircraft had to drop out. The aircraft were from Dyess AFB and they successfully completed a historic 36-hour, 13 minute around-the-world mission on June 3, 1995.

Capt. Chris Stewart’s assigned aircraft was named “Night Stalker” where he served as the Aircraft Commander, or the left seat.
