THOSE DIRTY FOCKERS. THIS PLANE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A VERY DIFFICULT PLANE TO FLY. I’VE WATCHED THE PBS SPECIAL ON BI AND TRI PLANES AND THE AMERICAN THAT FLIES THIS PLANE STATED, IT’S NOT A PLANE YOU WANT TO LET GO OF THE STICK IN. IT WAS VERY UNSTABLE AND A HARD PLANE TO FLY, GOOD ANYWAY. BUT, I GUESS IT DID WHAT IT NEEDED TO DO, FOR IT’S TIME. BOB ;)

  • Trenton Hill replied

Yes it did. The plane almost got canned becuase of the stability problems and the fact that the top wing could come off in a high speed dive. Anthony Fokker used Manfred to push his aircraft to the front lines. After the Baron flew it and deemed it a killer, every german pilot wanted one. Fokker based his design on the Sopwith triplane. Thanks Bob!
