The nice tight composition with its use of the diagonal line, the attitude and action of the bird, the Egrets sharp eye, the warm tone and the lovely colours make this a standout from the crowd.
I think it is a metaphor for life in that no matter what you are supposed to be concentrating on, you just gotta stop for a scratch once in a while. 8-)
