Hey Paul, are you sure he isn’t an Aussie? Looks like he is wearing thongs (on his feet!) I didn’t notice that before!!

  • Paul Thompson ... replied

Fantastic capture. The sword perspective really catches my eye. It’s like he’s studying it for flaws. Great contrast with the building. Definitely a favourite!

I tried to take the almost identical shot when I was living in York this summer – but could never manage a snap when there were no tourists milling about in the background. Kept thinking about going early in the morning but never got to it. Wonderful photo. The minster and – well- all of York is lovely.

  • Paul Thompson ... replied

Thanks alot shutupjaye, jes York is an amazing place

PS- did you desaturate the background or is that natural lighting? Amazing how the statue just pops out in your photo.

  • Paul Thompson ... replied

shutupjaye, the only thing I have done is use HDR to bring out all the colours, no other messing about, honest

The contrast between the statue, building and sky is wonderful. Also like the slight vignette.
