All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Experimental, Living Christianity, Safe Haven, Students and Beginners and WMGI am not a particular fan of any columnist or talk show host, rather it be Rush Limbaugh or Lou Dobbs, sufficient enough to endorse any or all they may comment about. I emphasize this in the preface of my statements here that it may be clear I am not a “yes” man to either one. At times I have heard Limbaugh speak on various matters with true concern of problems this nation is facing from various facets and perspectives. Without knowing what Limbaugh or Dobbs actually said, it is unwise to make an evaluation based on a hearsay report -
“Presidential candidate Barack Obama used a Florida fundraiser to attack conservative media personalities Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh for their militant stand on immigration policy.
Appearing Thursday at the Westin Diplomat near Fort Lauderdale, Obama lashed out at critics of illegal immigrants and migrant workers.
During his speech, Obama said, “A certain segment has basically been feeding a kind of xenophobia. There’s a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year.”
Who is behind the rise in hate crimes?
Obama left no doubt who he believes to be the culprits. “If you have people like Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh ginning things up, it’s not surprising that would happen,” he told the crowd…. “
One doesn’t however need to be a talk show host, media personality – a conservative one at that, to observe that “Houston, we are having a problem here…..” nor may it be further modified…a xenophobic religious gun toting Caucasian. It is this non-conservative, non-religious –Caucasian pigmented non gun toting kind of a guy…..belief that B. O. (Are his initials an omen – a raunchy one at that – to more nauseating malscents to proceed ‘thenceforth’?) is utilizing his own brand of ‘phobia’ to snag votes from the large Hispanic population in the southern tip of Florida. Is he not playing on their fears of immigration laws, regardless of the legality of their entry or close kindred’s entry to the United States?
B. O. manipulates the rhetoric in implying that “a certain segment, have they not been feeding a kind of xenophobia to cause hate crimes against Hispanics to double? Yes, sure Mr. Presidential Candidate, the mass that have committed hate crimes rally around the living room with a beer in one hand, a weapon in the other, a token ‘religious book’ on the end table(s), with the greatest anticipation of Mr. Limbaugh’s or Mr. Dobb’s show hour….and less you didn’t catch it the first time quite through, you can select another frequency to catch it on another FM or XM station! Come on…whatever instigated the hate crimes by whomever – they cannot cite either one of these “ever so influential media personalities, conservative though they are, as inciting mob incinerating behavior against the Hispanic population there. Is this ‘judgment rationale’ the type we should continue to expect by this candidate?
As a journalist and editorialist* of days of yore once said in closing his commentary on any given subject….”Call your next case.”
