An Historic Scotland Category A Listed Building

Over the rooftops of Edinburgh, Scotland, you can see the tall black Gothic spire of The Hub – the highest point in central Edinburgh, now the home of the Edinburgh International Festival, and a central source of information on all the Edinburgh Festivals.

The Hub was constructed between 1842 and 1845 as the Victoria Hall to house the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland however, the building was never consecrated as a Church. In 1929 the Church of Scotland ceased to use the building and it became a temporary home for a variety of congregations. It was named the Highland Tolbooth St John’s Church in 1956, before falling into disuse in the 1980s and was transformed into The Hub in 1999.

The Hub is an Historic Scotland Category A Listed Building (HB Number 27542).

The Old and New Towns of Edinburgh are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
