Seen from the Plaza de la Universidad (University Square), the tower of the Church of Saint Mary the Ancient (Iglesia de Santa Maria de la Antigua) in the city of Valladolid, north-central Spain.
The top of the tower has a shape like a pyramid and is covered with roof tile that resembles fish scales. The tower is one of the best examples of the Castillian Romanesque period for its slenderness and beauty. It is called the Queen of the Castillian Romanesque church towers and it is now a symbol of the city.
