Work continues in the River Forth on the foundations for the New Forth Crossing just slightly West of the Forth Road Bridge in East Central Scotland.

This shot is from the end of the pier at Port Edgar Marina.

The existing bridges, the Forth Road Bridge and the Forth Rail Bridge are both partly visable on the right.

The bridge is scheduled to be opened in 2016.

Four RAW images, individually Tonemapped in Photomatix Pro then PhotoMerged in Adobe PhotoShop.

  • OK, I think you read it wrong, hehe. The Rail Bridge is 122 years old (completed in 1890), the Road Bridge is only 48 years old (completed in 1964). When the New bridge is complete, this will be the only place in the world with 3 major bridges side by side which have been competed in three different centuries, the 19th, 20th and 21st …

    I thought that wasn’t right..Just isn’t the style of a hundred year old bridge…They got that wrong then…The rail bridge will always be my favourite no matter how impressive this new one will be…
