Café culture is alive and well at the Old Mill Tea Room at The Giggling Goose Cafe on North Road, Ambleside in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England.

This cafe/coffee shop is set in idylic surroundings – in a listed building that used to be an old mill – with the water wheel powered by the Stock Ghyll still intact and working too!

Oh my gosh what an amazing and charming coffee house! I can just imagine sitting there, relaxing and contemplating the beautiful surroundings! What a unique place! Excellent composition showing off the beautiful falls below, the wonderful architecture and that classic bridge beyond. Great clarity and dof!

  • Thank you Joanne, it is a lovely peaceful place to sit and the scones are great …

I was evacuated to Ambleside during WWII when I was a child. This photo has brought back memories of those days spent there while dodging bombs! If any viewers have not been to Amble side, they should put it on their “to do” lists.
    Thanks for the memories.

  • So pleased to bring back nice memories, Ambleside is a lovely little town but unfortunately overrun with tourist during the summer months …

A beautiful image from this delightful spot in the Lake District Tom, I do remember standing on virtually the same spot and taking a few similar ones a few years ago but not as good as this one,
