The ancient Market Cross dates back at least to the early 1600’s and is located at the site of a market licensed by Henry III to Thomas de Greystoke.
Greystoke is a pleasant village with 17th century cottages, many with cobbled forecourts, on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park.
The fictional character of Tarzan is said to be modelled on the late Baron Greystoke of the parish.
